What a great way to start off the new year!    On New Years Day we had the honor of documenting Annic & Scott’s wedding at one of of the most unique venues in Atlanta – a Moulin Rouge inspired space that just happens to be nestled within one of our favorite antique shops, Paris on Ponce.

A contagious sense of joy emanated from everyone involved with Annic & Scott’s wedding, especially from the bride & groom themselves. From the ‘first look’ to the reception their smiles never left their faces.

The moment we began covering their wedding day, this lovely couple made us feel at ease and welcome.  It was such a fun, fun event with the focus on friends and family and traditions old and new.

I am beyond excited to be sharing this film finally!! You may remember seeing Tomeika & Aron before on the blog, and their wedding was also published recently in Conde Nast’s Brides Atlanta Magazine, so we’ve held off on sharing more online until that hit the news stands and until we had their Cinema ready as well.

Tomeika and Aron were married at the Ritz Carlton Downtown Atlanta in May of 2011. What a fun wedding and such an amazing couple we’ve had the pleasure of really getting to know over the past few years. Tomeika surprised everyone with a 2nd Line Band coming in towards the end of the reception, a tribute to her Louisiana roots.

On Friday I had the pleasure of capturing some fun portraits of these three siblings. It’s a surprise for their parents for Christmas so I can’t reveal too much here except for a few fun pictures and let the imagery do the talking…

Right before Thanksgiving, we had the pleasure of filming Kristen & Seth’s gorgeous wedding at the Biltmore Ballrooms Atlanta.

For a majority of our 2011 weddings we did both Photography & Cinema, but we did have a handful of weddings where we had the opportunity to focus on cinema only, and I’m really loving it!

I’ve been making a point lately to shoot a few still photographs for us to use in our DVD menu, and in the case that someone requests a special photo and the official photographer is not nearby. (We shoot with the same cameras for both Photography & Cinema and are often mistaken as still photographers when shooting video!)

At one moment during the ceremony, Kristen was getting a good laugh from Seth telling her the story about how her very custom, very special wedding ring was lost and then found moments before heading to the ceremony. So glad they found it, and love this moment!

A month or two ago, our friend Sasha was in charge of bringing dinner to small group (a regular weekly gathering for us!) and surprised us with delicious homemade quiche. I’ve tried making quiche before but was never fond of the results, so of course I begged for her recipe. I was skeptical about whether or not her yummy dish could be reproduced since it seemed so simple – she rattled off the recipe so quickly from the top of her head!

This morning I made it for the second time, and we had it for breakfast. I made two at time and brought the second one to my parents & grandma and had it again for lunch with them today.

I wasn’t planning on blogging this so please forgive the iPhone pictures (the only ones I took during the process)!

Super Simple Quiche Recipe

4 Eggs
Heavy Whipping Cream (at least 1 cup)
Salt & Pepper
Seasoning Salt
1 Ready-Made Pie Crust (or your own homemade one)
Shredded Cheese
Chopped Spinach, frozen

1. Pre-bake pie crust according to package directions while you mix up your egg mixture.
2. Break 4 eggs into measuring bowl, beat until fluffy.
3. Add enough cream to the eggs so that the liquid equals 2 cups (so if the eggs equal one cup then you add one cup cream).
4. Add salt, pepper & seasoning salt to the mixture. I used about 10-15 grinds from each the pepper and salt mills and added a pinch of Seasoning Salt (probably about 1/4 teaspoon). You can add in other spices if you wish too, depending on your personal preferences.
5. After the pie crust is pre-cooked, remove from oven and pour most of the egg mixture into the crust.
6. Add in the “fillings.” I used a handful of shredded cheese and a handful of chopped frozen spinach. You can add really whatever you want. Just make sure if it’s meat that it’s pre-cooked and chopped. Some make it with ham & bacon and other veggies, I prefer mine simple with the spinach and cheese.
7. Pour the rest of the egg mixture on top.
8. Bake at 375-degrees for 30-40 minutes. The filling should raise a little and be solid/fluffy to the touch, not runny.

I save any left-overs and it’s super easy to reheat the whole dish to finish it off or microwave an individual slice right before serving. I usually make two at a time since the ready-made pie crusts always come in packs of two, you simply double the egg/cream/spice portion of the recipe and add in whatever filling you want for each. You can try different fillings in each one to mix it up a bit. I’ve only made this recipe with cream, but you may be able to use 2% milk with similar results. The cream does help hold the filling in place though because it makes the egg mixture quite thick.

When Mike and I started dating back in the Spring/Summer of 2007, one of our first dates was to an Atlanta Braves baseball game with a group of friends. It was then that I met Scott & Brittany for the first time. It turns out that Scott has a love for photography as well, so the four of us have enjoyed double dates and even the occasional “photo walk” or “photo safari” around town… just meandering around snapping pictures of whatever interests us.

I was completely honored of course when they asked me to photograph their wedding, and even more thrilled that they’d be tying the knot!  This was a one-of-a-kind wedding for me… AND for Mike. He was IN the wedding and asked to give the prayer/blessing before dinner. It was pretty fun watching Mike on the OTHER side of the camera during a wedding for a change!!  He actually told me before the wedding he was more nervous being in the wedding than photographing it – so cute!!

I started off at Brittany’s sisters home with the ladies getting ready, while Dana (who came to second shoot with me) shadowed the guys.

Brittany put a lot of time into the details that she and the bridesmaids wore – making their own Peacock feather hair pieces, and adorning the garter and bridal shoes with bejeweled feathers as well.

Next we headed over to Little Gardens in Lawrenceville where both their ceremony and reception was held.

While photographing portraits in open shade (daylight) is my favorite, shooting at this time of night with the deep blue hues of twilight is right up there with it.

Last weekend we had a chance to catch up with our friends Rohn and Elisa to meet their adorable little guy, Caleb. They had just gotten home from the hospital a few days earlier, so Caleb was going on 5 days old at this point. I couldn’t help but snap a few of Caleb sleeping peacefully, after holding the little guy for a good 45 minutes while we caught up with his parents.

I call this one his “baby Zoolander” face. So cute!

Natalie & Brennen were married earlier this month at the Emory Conference Center and Hotel. We had the pleasure of documenting not just their wedding, but part of their after-party as well! I knew from their friends that referred them that this would be a super fun, laid-back, no-stress, beautiful wedding… and I was right!

I had such a difficult time narrowing down these pictures of Natalie – she is just rocking this veil!!
