First Day of “School” Fall 2015

by Liana on August 4, 2015

It’s been a LONG time since I blogged, and so I figured an update is in store…

We are expecting a baby GIRL any day now! My due date is August 26th however the doctors are predicting she arrives earlier. Who knows – babies certainly come on their own/God’s time – that’s for sure. It’s likely we’ll have her in our arms sometime in the next 3-4 weeks though.

I’m going to try to take a TRUE maternity leave this time around so I’ve been helping my husband Mike with his business, Maycomb Mercantile, a lot this year and focusing on that. I’m booking weddings for 2016 and taking the occasional portrait session here and there but otherwise won’t be doing much shooting for the rest of 2015.

It’s been a season of me realizing I REALLY need to slow down, get organized, focus on family.  I guess that’s what happens when you’re about to have “three three and under,” run multiple small businesses, and take care of the household.

The nesting urge is HUGE this time around. I painted (with the help of my mom) 8 rooms in our house in the past 2 months (during my 3rd trimester) and have been going through the house organizing thanks to the KonMari method I’m loving.  It’s something that’s long overdue and I believe it will really help us be more focus and organized in life and business too.

Well, that’s enough updates for now – there’s plenty more but for now I’ll leave you with a few photos from this morning.  The boys go to a “mother’s morning out” program 2x a week for just a few hours and we call it “school.”  SO here they are before heading out to their “first day of school” for Fall 2015.

“The cheesy choke-hold” pose as I like to call it.  Colman twists his face into a big “CHEESE” and Atticus holds him so tight, smothering him with brotherly love.  It’s a regular pose in our house…

Colman’s “you’re taking my picture again mom!?” face

Of course then Atticus says “Mom, take my picture too!!!” and proceeds to move around, thrashing and jumping while I try to get him still for one or two good ones…

And finally, a few squinty-eye pics on the front porch before heading out…
