Last month I embarked on a fun project – 100 Portraits in 100 Days. I already know I’ve been a bit too ambitious trying to accomplish such a huge feat, but it’s been a fun experiment thus far and opened up the chance to photograph individuals and families that might not have done a portrait otherwise.
Laurel was the lucky first portrait that we took early one morning before I departed for Las Vegas. She actually has the same name as my little sister!!
How it works is if you sign up for the first portrait, you get one retouched portrait. If you sign up for the tenth, you get ten retouched portraits. I think the most difficult part of this is choosing just one. Or two. Or twelve.
I have another shot that I would normally choose – that’s a wonderful – eyes-wide-open-and-smiling-at-the-camera head shot. BUT I believe this one captures Laurel even better – shows her true essence. I call this one “joy”. This is the one I choose for the first portrait.

Great choice Liana! Sometime you have to choose the best emotion rather than the best technically and you chose well. What a joyous portrait!
Really looking forward to following your 100 Portraits project.
